Important Transfer Information for Schimelpfenig Middle School Eighth Grade Families

  • File Categories:

With the feeder alignment change adopted by the Plano ISD Board of Trustees in October, Clark High School and Plano Senior High School are the designated feeder schools for students residing in the Schimelpfenig Middle School attendance area.

Current eighth grade students residing in this area will attend Clark High School, or they may request a student transfer to attend Jasper High School. School bus transportation will be provided to Clark if the student's home is located two or more miles away from the school. Students who elect to transfer to Jasper will not be eligible for school bus transportation.

Transfer forms have been mailed to the homes of eighth grade families residing in the Schimelpfenig attendance area. The district has established a window of opportunity from November 14 to December 16 for Schimelpfenig students to submit a transfer request. This form along with the transfer fee of $50.00 (cash or check payable to Plano ISD) or a copy of a waiver letter regarding qualification for the Free or Reduced Lunch Program must be submitted to the office of Student Administrative Services no later than December 16, 2011, so the district can make appropriate staffing allocations at each high school. (In all high schools, student transfers are limited due to staffing allocations.)

Forms and transfer fees may be submitted by mail or in person to: The Department of Student Administrative Services; 5804 Coit Road, Suite #102; Plano, TX 75023 (map it). The office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays with the exception of November 24 and 25. According to UIL rules, students who elect to transfer to Jasper will be ineligible to participate in varsity athletics during the ninth grade. In the future if the child is successful in securing a transfer to Plano West Senior High School there will be no further loss of eligibility. For students choosing to return to Plano Senior High School, there will be a loss of varsity athletic eligibility in the eleventh grade. (A transfer request for senior high school may be completed in January of the tenth grade year.)

Approved transfer forms to Jasper must be presented to the counseling office at Schimelpfenig for scheduling purposes. Additionally, forms should be presented to any sponsors/coaches at Jasper holding tryouts in the spring. Please contact Jasper directly for tryout dates and deadlines.
